Ongoing projects at ICPBS:
Acquisition of a research collection of internationally published contemporary picture books of acknowledged quality, to be housed at The Hive, the joint city and university library.
Public programmes of talks and events involving national and international picture book makers (illustrators and writers).
Liaise and collaborate with international bodies, publishers and research groups on the creation, research or promotion of picture books.
Exhibit international picture book illustration collections or competition winners in the Hive (e.g. The international Lemniscaat Picture Book Illustration competition in October 2014).
Invite authors, illustrators and other bibliophiles to become “Friends of the International Centre for the Picture Book in Society”.
FUTURE PROJECTS:
A residence programme of international illustrators and picture book makers.
Workshops for children and young people to create and make their own picture books social access space.
Engage with and initiate European and international academic inter-institutional projects and research collaborations associated with picture books and their uses.
Support young, aspiring illustrators in their early career development.
Support existing bodies involved with the promotion of picture books, illustration, reading and democratisation of picture book-creation.
